Ljubljana's Old Town

Slovenia had not had rain for two months. The day I arrived it started raining for three days. At first I remained optimistic, taking advantage of a rainy afternoon in Ljubljana to spend at a cafe with wifi (saw only Macs, by the way). Petra met me the first thing the next morning. Petra is Dean's girlfriend; Dean is the brother of Dan, who took care of Macs at AIFS in Stamford, CT, and still services my Macs. Intermittently between rain, I was able to work in tourist activities like climb the hill to the Ljubljana castle. However, en route to see an artist/squatter area that was raided by the police the day before, I got caught in a downpour and opted for my hotel. Another local, Diego (artist/politico/American) and I went for jazz the first evening, and Petra joined us. Thanks to them, I've seen things I wouldn't have, being merely a tourist. Petra has been a wonderful help in getting me oriented and planning the next steps around the rest of the country: Bled (mountains), Piran (coast) and Postojna (caves).
