Crete, Greece

I don't know why it took me so long to get to Greece. After all, our high school mascot was the Trojan and my college sorority was Hellenic.

I had been to many European countries, but never Greece. I think it was because I thought it had just too much history. I couldn't deal with it. It took being a refugee from Paris while work was (supposedly) being done on my apartment to decide to go.

Even though Greece has some 1400 islands, one was enough for this trip. I spent two weeks on Crete.

Whatever Greece's amazing accomplishments in ancient history have been, recent history has not been kind. Junk is all too prevalent, debris along roads and sidewalks. There must be more cement mixers and sacks of building materials strewn about per capita than any other place in the world. Evidently, it's a work in progress.

My photos are selective cropping—concentrating on the pretty, positive things, of which there are many.
