| En route up to the Pacha Father (Pacha-tata) monument I was huffing and puffing due to the altitude ...along came a man on a horse (contradicting our guide who said there were none on the island). When I asked if I could take this dashing equestrian's picture, he offered me the back of his horse. Yes...yes...YES! For 20 soles ($6.50) I went to the top, feeling like an Inca empress. I received considerable ribbing but also admiration at finding a way not to struggle so much in that altitude (12,500 feet). |
