Seeing replicas of cave paintings was near the bottom of my list, but as the weather chilled and rains prevailed, indoor activity became more and more appealing. Ninety percent of the 17,000-year-old cave paintings are reproduced in awesome detail in Lascaux II near Montignac. The original cave had to be closed because of deterioration caused by so much traffic.
