The first two days in Beijing were sunny and clear, leading me to think all the bad reviews of Beijing air were hooey. The third day the cloud of pollution descended, and I realized the verité. My reaction was to flee to the Great Wall, thinking it might burn off by mid-day or at least be dissipated. Guess again.
