This exhibit does not chastise them for their indulgences, rather, salutes the richness of the times. The arrival of street lamps catapulted night life into a whole new category of excess and no doubt contributed to the "naughty" in the city's reputation. For example, along came the first striptease movie - in this case more playful than porno, showing a new husband peeking over the room divider as the bride undresses.
